In Weakness, Jesus Is Strong
The key to living a victorious, successful, abundant life in Christ Jesus is to rest in what He has already done for us on the cross. The more we rest, the more grace abounds toward us. Rest is our portion in Jesus as well as provision, access into the things of God, favor, blessings, peace, love, health, etc. Father God demonstrates His love toward us in today’s message by urging us to cast our cares on Him, and He will sustain us (Psalm 55:22). He promises that whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed (Romans 10:11). Then, He wraps His loving arms around us, calms our fear of weaknesses and failings, and comforts us saying, “My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Grace for grace. Let this be the day that we become partakers in the grace that has been provided for us out of the fullness of our Lord (John 1:16). There is a grace for everything that we face and everything that we need. It is found in Jesus. In 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, Paul was given a thorn in the flesh. He besought the Lord three times regarding it, asking if the thorn could be removed from him. The Lord directed Paul to His sufficient grace, which has been given unto all Christians. He is reminding us today that He is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to us in abundance, so that we may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work] (2 Corinthians 9:8). Father God placed us in Christ Jesus where all of our needs would be met. When we know and understand this truth, as well as all things work together for good to us who love God and who are called according to His purpose. It’s no wonder we can be content in whatever state we are in!
Weak in the flesh = Strong in the spirit. Father God reassures us in Hebrews 8:12 that He is aware of our unrighteousness just before encouraging us that He will be merciful toward us and will remember our sins and iniquities no more. In fact, weaknesses will cause us to cling to, rely on, adhere to and believe in Jesus in every situation, every circumstance, every area and every decision. Our Lord said to Paul and is saying to us today, “My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in your weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9a). Let’s acknowledge areas where we may be challenged, for it is then that the power of God can work through us and His grace and strength surge into those areas on our behalf!
His workmanship. According to Ephesians 2:4-9, even when we were dead in sins, God’s mercy and His great love for us led Him to quicken us (make us alive, aware, conscious, alert, sensitive to the things of God) together with Christ saving us by His grace. Why? So that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus (verse 7)! Romans 10:11 declares, “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.” [Point to yourself] This is His free gift to me! I am His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that I should walk in them!
Think It, Believe It, Say It, Possess It: Thank You Father God for the love wherewith You love us. Thank You for the revelation of Your sufficient grace and the abundant portions of Your love, blessings, peace, protection, wisdom and rest that You have made available to us who are in Christ Jesus. We are especially grateful and comforted by the knowledge that all things work together for good to us who love You! In Jesus’ name. Amen!!
